USW ratifies new contract at ArcelorMittal, locks in 17% wage gains
The four-year agreement covers roughly 4,800 production and maintenance workers and includes a $5,000 signing bonus along with improved retiree health terms.

United Steelworkers members at ArcelorMittal USA's remaining domestic operations ratified a four-year master agreement this week, securing 17% cumulative wage gains, a $5,000 signing bonus, and improvements to retiree health coverage. The deal covers roughly 4,800 production and maintenance workers.
The vote was not close. Local presidents said the financial terms reflected the company's profitability over the 2023-2025 window and the strategic importance of ArcelorMittal's Calvert complex, which continues to supply major automotive customers.
The contract is seen as a benchmark for upcoming Cleveland-Cliffs and US Steel negotiations. Both contracts expire within 18 months. USW International VP Mike Millsap said the agreement shows 'steel wages can track with steel margins' when members hold the line.
